Papers of George P. Garrett [manuscript], 1949-1986.

The collection contains manuscripts of "Enchanted ground" and "The hunter's view," some poetry and parodies as well as a lecture on the purpose and development of literature. Also include letters, 1949-1967, to his sister and brother-in-law, Rozanne and A. C. Epps; announcements, and programs from public appearances; newsclippings, reviews, and other printed material re: his life and writing; and a scrapbook on him compiled by his sister. Of interest is a letter describing the elements in a good story. Harry Meacham is also a correspondent.

George Garrett (1929-2008) was a novelist and poet who taught at Hollins University and the University of Virginia.
